
Dr. Leah Brodbeck is a first-year Neuropsychology post-doctoral fellow in the department of Neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston University and earned a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the George Washington University. She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with specialization in Neuropsychology from Spalding University in Louisville, KY and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Gulf Coast VA in Biloxi, MS. She enjoys working with older adult populations, providing assessments for various neurodegenerative disorders and pre-surgical evaluations for solid organ transplants, medically refractory epilepsy, and deep-brain stimulation for movement disorders. Her research interests include identification of factors that contribute to the efficacy of long-term neurorehabilitation for moderate to severe brain injuries, disease modifying therapies for neurodegenerative conditions, and exploring the role of inflammation in cognitive decline.
Leah is passionate about improving access to neuropsychological and rehabilitative services following acquired brain injury and is dedicated to promoting knowledge regarding healthy aging behaviors to underserved communities. Throughout graduate school, she served as VP of the Spalding University Multicultural Psychological Association and was responsible for advancing multicultural awareness and advocacy in psychology for marginalized groups through research and community outreach. She is also an active member of various professional organizations such as the Queer Neuropsychological Society (QNS) and enjoys serving as a mentor for graduate and medical students.
