Dr. Sperling is a clinical neuropsychologist in the Center for Neurological Restoration at the Cleveland Clinic. He is a clinician, educator, and researcher with expertise in Parkinson’s disease, functional neurosurgery, tele-neuropsychology, and healthcare policy. Dr. Sperling completed his doctoral training at the Wright Institute, pre-doctoral internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and postdoctoral training in the Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia. He has a history of funded clinical research examining novel biomarkers of cognitive decline and neuropsychiatric symptoms in Parkinson’s disease and the diagnostic validity of in-home tele-neuropsychological practice models.
Dr. Sperling has an extensive history of professional service and is a strong advocate for clinical neuropsychology practice innovation. He has served/serves as Chair of the American Psychological Association’s Early Career Psychologist Committee, Chair of the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology’s Education Advisory and Strategic Planning Committees, and President-Elect of the Council of Specialties in Professional Psychology. He co-founded KnowNeuropsychology to provide an avenue for the free and open global exchange of neuropsychological knowledge. Dr. Sperling has worked tirelessly to leverage his positions as the Ohio Psychological Association’s Federal Advocacy Coordinator and the American Psychological Association’s Advisor to the AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee to protect and advance psychology and neuropsychological practice through multiple regulatory and legislative mechanisms.
