Scott Sperling, Psy.D., ABPP-CN

Dr. Sperling is a clinical neuropsychologist in the Center for Neurological Restoration at the Cleveland Clinic and Professor of Neurology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He is a clinician, educator, and researcher with expertise in Parkinson’s disease, functional neurosurgery, tele-neuropsychology, and healthcare policy. Dr. Sperling completed his doctoral training at the Wright Institute, pre-doctoral internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and postdoctoral training in the Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia. He has a history of funded clinical research examining novel biomarkers of cognitive decline and neuropsychiatric symptoms in Parkinson’s disease and the validity of in-home tele-neuropsychological practice models.

Dr. Sperling has an extensive history of professional service and is a strong advocate for clinical neuropsychology and psychology. He has served as Chair of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Early Career Psychologist Committee and the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology’s (SCN) Education Advisory and Strategic Planning Committees. He currently serves as SCN’s Executive Director and Past-President of the Council of Specialties in Professional Psychology. Dr. Sperling has worked to advance psychology and neuropsychological practice through multiple regulatory and legislative avenues, including via his service as the Ohio Psychological Association’s Federal Advocacy Coordinator and Advocacy Committee Chair, and as the APA’s Advisor to the AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee. Dr. Sperling co-founded KnowNeuropsychology to provide a mechanism for the free and open global exchange of neuropsychological knowledge.
