Xanthia Saganis, MA

Xanthia is a 3rd year neuropsychology-track PhD student in the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at East Carolina University, NC. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, she earned her BA from Elon University, NC in Psychology with minors in neuroscience and communications in 2015. She also earned her MA in psychology from Chatham University, PA in 2018. Her current research interests include sports-related concussion, executive functioning in college students, and sleep effects on neurophysiological responses to positive/negative images. For her dissertation, she plans to investigate the relationship between cardiovascular risk factors and dementia diagnosis. Her prior experience includes working as a psychometrist at the University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) and the Mon-Yough Healthy Aging Team (MYHAT) community-based research study. She also has experience exploring psychometric properties of a remote digital neuropsychological assessment tool in collaboration with the RC21X company. After graduate school, she intends to conduct research and assess adult and geriatric populations as a board-certified neuropsychologist. In her free time, Xanthia enjoys spending time with friends, her partner, and her cat, Delilah. She also enjoys gardening, playing ice hockey, and nail art.
